What to Expect from a Registered Psychotherapist
When you seek the services of a Registered Psychotherapist, you can expect to receive competent, ethical, quality care from a qualified professional who is registered with CRPO, if in Ontario’ or their various registration colleges or regulating bodies.
CRPO and/or other regulating bodies’ registrants are accountable to the College for the quality of care they provide and for their professional conduct. Only individuals who are registered with CRPO or another psychotherapy-regulating college in Ontario are able to use the title “psychotherapist” or to hold themself out as qualified to practise as a psychotherapist in Ontario (no matter what title they use). Anyone using the title “Registered Psychotherapist”, or any abbreviation or variation thereof in any language, must be registered with CRPO.

How to select my therapist?
You can learn about each therapist or counsellor and their theoretical approach(es) by reading the individual profiles related to that specific therapist.
Each therapist’s or counsellor’s profile should contain their contact information for you to reach them and make further arrangement for a consultation (paid or free) or a full therapy session.
During a consultation, a client has the right to ask any and all questions, and get sufficient clarification about the service they hope to receive from that therapist.
